Upload CSV Files

Upload a spreadsheet or import data from a supported source so Chartlet.AI can generate charts, profiles, dashboards, and insights.

Local file upload

Use this for CSV, XLS, and XLSX files from your computer.

URL import

Import a file from a supported public or authorized URL.

Connector import

Use supported connectors such as Google Drive, S3, PostgreSQL, or Shopify when they are available for your workspace.

Supported Local File Formats

  • CSV files with the .csv extension
  • Excel workbooks with .xlsx or .xls extensions
  • File size, storage, and upload counts depend on your current plan.

Prepare Your File

  • Put column headers in the first row.
  • Keep one record per row.
  • Use consistent date, currency, and number formats.
  • Remove blank rows, duplicate header rows, and unrelated notes.
  • Use a file size that fits your current plan limits.

Upload Workflow

  1. Open the dashboard and choose Upload.
  2. Select a CSV, XLS, or XLSX file, or choose another available import source.
  3. For Excel workbooks, choose the sheet you want Chartlet.AI to analyze.
  4. Wait for processing to finish. Most small uploads finish in under 60 seconds, while larger files or connector imports may take longer.
  5. Review the generated dashboard, data profile, charts, and insights.

Excel Sheet Selection

If an Excel workbook contains multiple sheets, Chartlet.AI prompts you to choose which sheet to analyze during upload. Choose the sheet that contains the table you want to chart.

Troubleshooting

The file is rejected

Confirm the extension is CSV, XLS, or XLSX and that the file fits your plan limits.

Columns look wrong

Check for merged cells, extra title rows, repeated headers, or inconsistent delimiters.

Processing takes longer than expected

Large files, wide tables, and connector imports can take longer. Refresh the dataset page or retry processing if the app offers that action.

The wrong Excel sheet was selected

Upload the workbook again and choose the correct sheet during sheet selection.

Privacy and Security

Uploaded data is used to provide the analysis you request. Avoid uploading sensitive or regulated data unless your plan or agreement allows that use. See the Privacy Policy and Security page for more detail.
