Guides for uploading data, reviewing charts, asking AI questions, connecting sources, and managing your account.

Shopify Connector

Connect a Shopify store with OAuth, import orders, products, and customers into Chartlet.AI, and optionally refresh on a schedule with an emailed report.

Before You Start

  • A Chartlet.AI workspace on a plan that includes the Shopify connector (Pro and above).
  • A Shopify store you can authorize apps for (store owner or staff with app install permission).
  • Your store’s myshopify.com domain (for example yourstore.myshopify.com).

1. Confirm Store Access

  1. Sign in to Shopify Admin for the store you want to analyze.
  2. Copy the store’s *.myshopify.com domain from Settings → Domains (or from the admin URL).
  3. Confirm your staff account can install apps. Store owners always can; some staff roles need explicit permission.

Domain tip

Chartlet.AI needs yourstore.myshopify.com, not only a branded storefront URL like www.yourbrand.com.

2. Permissions Chartlet.AI Requests

When you install the Chartlet.AI app on Shopify, you approve read-only access. Chartlet.AI does not request write access to change orders, products, or customers.

ScopeUsed for
read_ordersImport Orders and Order Line Items, including totals, payment status, and line-level detail.
read_productsImport the Products catalog for inventory and merchandising analysis.
read_customersImport Customers for cohort and retention-style analysis.

Tokens are stored encrypted for your workspace. Disconnect anytime from Integrations to revoke Chartlet.AI access for that store (you can also uninstall the app in Shopify Admin).

3. Connect the Store in Chartlet.AI

  1. Open the dashboard and go to Settings → Integrations, or start a new upload and choose Shopify.
  2. Enter your store domain in the form yourstore.myshopify.com (custom domains alone are not enough).
  3. Choose Connect. Shopify opens so you can install and approve Chartlet.AI for that store.
  4. After you approve, Chartlet.AI returns you to Upload with the Shopify connection selected.
  5. You can manage or disconnect the store later from Integrations / Connectors.

4. Choose What to Import

Orders

One row per order with payment status and totals. Time filter uses created_at.

Order Line Items

One row per line item, with order fields denormalized. Best for product-level revenue. Time filter uses order created_at.

Products

Product catalog rows. Time filter uses updated_at.

Customers

Customer records. Time filter uses created_at.

  1. Select the Shopify connection if you have more than one store connected.
  2. Choose a resource (Orders, Order Line Items, Products, or Customers).
  3. Optionally set a time range (for example last 7 days or month to date) before importing.
  4. On plans that include schedules, you can enable a refresh schedule and optional email report in the same import dialog.
  5. Confirm Import (or Import & schedule). Wait for processing, then open the new dataset.

After import, Chartlet.AI runs the same profiling and analysis pipeline used for file uploads. Dataset names often include the resource and a date so weekly imports stay easy to tell apart.

Sync Schedules and Email Reports

On plans that include connector schedules, you can enable a refresh during import (or later from the dataset Reports tab). Typical setup for merchandising and ops teams:

  • Weekly Monday refresh of Orders or Order Line Items
  • Relative time window such as last 7 days (re-evaluated each run)
  • Optional email report after each successful scheduled sync

Absolute date ranges stay fixed; use relative presets for rolling schedules. Availability depends on your workspace plan — see Billing & Limits.

Troubleshooting

Shopify is not available in the dashboard

Your workspace plan may not include the Shopify connector. It requires Pro and above. Check Billing & Limits or ask a workspace owner.

Invalid store domain

Use the myshopify.com hostname shown in Shopify Admin → Settings → Domains (for example cool-socks.myshopify.com). Do not paste a custom storefront URL alone.

OAuth or install failed / redirected with an error

Make sure you are logged into the correct Shopify store and that your staff account can install apps. Try again from Chartlet.AI, or ask a store owner to complete the install.

Permission / access denied after connecting

Chartlet.AI needs read access to orders, products, and customers. Disconnect the connection in Integrations, connect again, and approve all requested permissions on Shopify’s consent screen.

No data in this time range

Widen or clear the time filter and try again. Relative windows (last 7 days, MTD, etc.) are evaluated at import and sync time.

Import is slow or large stores time out

Start with a shorter time window (for example last 7 or 30 days), especially for Orders and Order Line Items. You can schedule a recurring sync for ongoing refreshes.

Schedule or weekly report option is disabled

Connector schedules require a plan that includes connector_schedules (Pro and above). You can still import once, then upgrade and add a schedule from the dataset Reports tab.
